President Bola Tinubu has once more defended his administration’s decision to eliminate the fuel subsidy, calling it a “necessary” step to safeguard the nation’s future. Tinubu stated that in order to create a better Nigeria, the fuel subsidy must be eliminated during a visit to Enugu State on Saturday. “You all live in different rooms of the same house, but you are all part of one big, huge family called Nigeria,” he remarked. We have to build this house. Construct it to meet our current needs, which won’t be sufficient just yet, as well as those of tomorrow. For this reason, the initial subsidy had to be eliminated. “You cannot plan ahead for the future of generations that have not yet been born. Don’t ruin the country before they’re even born. I asked for the job even though I know that people will quarrel, complain, mistreat me, and all that. I am aware of the requirements. I have faith in my ability to assemble a strong team and establish a country.
He then exhorted Nigerians to cherish their nation and avoid disparaging remarks about it. It is our nation. To create a country of which we can be proud, we must put in a great deal of effort. Modify the story; a disparaging remark about Nigeria? That’s not acceptable to me! I have a lot of pride in Nigeria. He said to the audience, which included Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, government employees, and other dignitaries, “You all should be proud of Nigeria.”
