The 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi and other political figures demanding the release of the imprisoned leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) should be classified as terrorists, according to the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG).CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
The Coalition said in a statement issued Thursday by its National Coordinator, Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, that 175 security personnel have been killed by IPOB’s operations, and that police stations, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) offices, and other public facilities have been destroyed. Peter Obi was accused by the group of putting ethnic interests before of his own by supporting Kanu’s release.
Northern voters were cautioned by CNG not to back any politician who supports IPOB, claiming that such coalitions ignore the suffering of Nigerians impacted by the group’s activities. “Igbo leaders and elites’ demand for Nnamdi Kanu’s unconditional release is not only misguided but also insensitive to the feelings and aspirations of those who have been affected by the violence and unrest caused by IPOB’s activities,” the statement says in part.The blood of innocent Nigerians, especially those from the Northern area, has been used by Kanu to incite violence and disturbance in Nigeria, resulting in hundreds of deaths. This is a concerning development.
The fact that Peter Obi, a purported leader, would side with someone like Kanu, who has blood on his hands and has wreaked havoc and division across the nation, is quite worrisome. Obi’s disregard for the suffering and loss inflicted by Kanu’s acts, based only on their shared race, is the height of insensitivity and recklessness.
“It is evident that Obi does not care about the lives and welfare of his fellow northern Nigerians, since he is vying for the votes of Nigerians, especially those from the Northern area, while calling for Kanu’s release. It is a betrayal of confidence and a disrespect for the pain that innocent people have endured as a result of Kanu’s provocation.
“We urge all Northern voters to exercise caution when dealing with politicians such as Peter Obi, who are prepared to jeopardize the safety and security of their constituents in order to achieve their own political goals.”The unity and stability of Nigeria have suffered as a result of IPOB’s evil plan and actions, which were supported by a sizable number of Igbo leaders and elites.In addition to being unfair, the demand for Nnamdi Kanu’s unconditional release is also detrimental to the nation’s attempts to regain peace and order. “From now on, any Igbo leader who calls for Kanu’s unconditional release will be viewed as a terrorist and complicit.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
