A Collation Agent from Ovia South West LGA testified before the tribunal, which was presided over by Justice Wilfred Kpochi. The agent provided proof of several over-votes in favor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 21st Edo State gubernatorial election.
Seven polling stations in Ovia South West LGA (PUs 014, 007, 004, 006, 016, 028, and 034) received more votes than accredited voters, according to the witness. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not annul the affected polling sites, the witness claimed, despite substantial evidence of over-voting.
The witness stated during cross-examination that PDP agents noticed the excessive voting and protested, but the INEC presiding officials disregarded them. The witness backed up his assertion with a number of papers, such as INEC CTCs of BVAS extracts and BVAS accreditation reports. The court finally acknowledged the witness’s statement under oath, despite early objections from INEC’s counsel and the second respondent, Okpebholo.
As the session goes on, more PDP witnesses are anticipated to testify. On September 21, 2024, Edo State held its gubernatorial election.
