Nigerian gospel musician Timileyin Ajayi’s parents have finally addressed the terrible controversy surrounding their son. A video purportedly showing Timileyin with Salome Adaidu’s severed head led to his recent arrest and accusation of her murder. The horrifying discovery of Salome’s body, sliced into pieces with sharp tools, was made during a search of his flat.
In a recent interview, Sunday Ajayi, Timileyin’s father, begged the government to step in and resolve the issue in order to secure his son’s release. In Pidgin, he pleaded for forgiveness: “I want the government to assist me in getting the issue resolved.” Make them assist me in attempting to persuade them to grant me a leave of absence.
But Dorcas Ajayi, his mother, had a different opinion. She appeared to accept her fate, admitting that she would have been crushed if one of her own children had suffered the same fate. “Had it been one of my daughters they did that to, how do I feel?” she said, leaving the decision to the authorities.
