The event occurred about 72 hours after his son and other fighters were slain during an assault on Turji’s hiding places near the high ground of Fakai.
Additionally, according to the military high command, troops killed Dosso, Bello Turji’s younger brother, and Danbokolo, one of Turji’s closest supporters, by causing deaths. Buba added that forces killed more than 24 terrorists who were escaping from Turji’s Camp in the Sokoto state local government areas of Gebe and Isa, as well as in the Shinkafi LGA of Zamfara state, near Gidan Rijiya.
In the assault on Bello Turji’s Enclave on the Fakai high ground, troops also killed another prominent terrorist. He is Suleiman, a supporter of the late, infamous terrorist commander Halilu Sububu. “The late Suleiman was killed in the firefight while leading a reinforcement team to rescue Bello Turji’s Camp, which was in chaos,” he claimed.
The loss of Turji’s second-in-command, close associates, commanders, and fighters was characterized by the military spokesperson as a serious setback to the Northwest terrorist network’s military and combat capabilities. According to him, this terrorist organization has been “infamous for multiple kidnappings and terrorist attacks throughout the North West, especially in Zurmi, Shinkafi, Isa, and Sabon Birni Local Government Areas in Zamfara and Sokoto states.”

In a related event, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina state declared that he was not prepared to engage in any kind of dialogue with criminal groups responsible for the state’s security breaches.
Instead, his government will reintegrate terrorists who voluntarily gave up to embrace peace, he claimed. Major-General Ibikunle Ademola Ajose, the Commander of Joint Task Force Northwest Operation and the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 8 Division, visited him at Government House in Katsina and talked to the crowd.
Instead, Radda stated that in order to guarantee enduring peace, the state administration can only enter into a peace agreement with the bandits under specific predetermined terms. The governor promised ongoing logistical help to handle gasoline supply issues and preserve operational effectiveness while reiterating the state’s massive investment in security infrastructure, which he claimed outstripped many others in the nation. The governor praised the Division and Brigade Commanders for their outstanding leadership, stating that they directly oversee operations and exhibit steadfast commitment.
The state’s security has significantly improved as a result of their efforts as well as the joint operations of the Nigerian Army, Air Force, Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Civil Defence Corps, and Katsina Community Watch Corps. The governor was informed earlier by Major-General Ajose that he was in the state as part of his operational visit to all states under the 8th Division for the first quarter in order to discuss the recently launched Operation Safe Northwest with the state administration. “This initiative aims to foster sustainable peace, improve security operations, and mobilize communities,” Ajose said.
He reminded them that General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the Chief of Defense Staff, had written to the four states in the zone about the latest events, especially the rumors that some bandits were open to negotiating a peace deal. “The Nigerian Army is dedicated to investigating comprehensive strategies to tackle this enduring and malevolent issue, and it is crucial to emphasize unequivocally that we do not negotiate with criminals or bandits,” the GOC stated.
He expressed his sincere gratitude to Governor Radda for his consistent support of the state’s security activities, pointing to the availability of funding for the establishment of a Forward Operating Base (FOB) as one example.
