This was said in a news conference held in Bauchi and signed by Mustapha Adamu, Director of Planning, Research/Strategy, Northern Initiative for Growth, Abdulazeez Yahaya Umar (Mandela), National Secretary, and Alkasim Nuhu Abdulkadir, National Coordinator of the forum. It said, “As you are aware, President Ahmad Bola Tinubu’s administration has been doing well to promote balance in governance.” It further emphasized how important it is at this time to nominate Alhaji Bala Maijama’a Wunti as the substantive Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

“As you may remember, prior administrations have made strategic appointments to address regional challenges,” the organization said. The Boko Haram insurgency was lessened in part by the selection of Yusuf Burutai as the North-East zone’s Chief of Army Staff. Likewise, the establishment of a massive power plant project was made easier by the appointment of Mamman as Minister of Power from the same zone.

“The appointment of ministers from the North-West to address insecurity challenges has yielded positive results under the current administration,” the statement continued. We think that Wunti’s appointment as NNPCL’s GMD will be a calculated step to support regional development and balance.

“The selection of Wunti would not only show the administration’s dedication to inclusivity, but also its determination to tackle the Northern region’s developmental issues. He is a perfect fit for the role because of his remarkable three-decade track record in the oil and gas sector.

In addition to the fact that Wunti’s appointment will be consistent with the federal character principles outlined in the 1999 Constitution (as amended), we implore the President to take into account Wunti’s appointment as a matter of regional balance, development, and the growth of Nigerian oil.

“The composition of the Government of the Federation or any of its agencies and the conduct of its affairs shall be carried out in such a manner as to reflect the federal character of Nigeria and the need to promote national unity and also command national loyalty,” the group claims, citing Section 14(3) of the Constitution.

“Given the above, we implore you to use your good offices to support the appointment of Alhaji Bala Maijama’a Wunti as the substantive Group Managing Director of NNPCL,” it emphasized. “This appointment will demonstrate the administration’s determination to address the developmental challenges facing the Northern region, as well as its commitment to regional balance.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
