In a statement released on Thursday, President Tinubu expressed his profound sadness over the events that transpired in Washington, D.C. According to Naija News, a catastrophic mid-air accident between a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter and an American Airlines commercial plane outside Washington, D.C., left 67 people missing. On Wednesday night, the military helicopter, which had three crew members on board, collided with American Eagle Flight 5342, which was approaching Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport with 60 passengers and four crew members.

President Tinubu responded to the news by expressing his sympathies to the relatives of the victims as well as to the American people and government. He went on to say that Nigeria is supporting the United States during this difficult time. “The tragic incident in Washington, D.C., has deeply saddened me.”

“I offer Nigeria’s deepest sympathies to the victims’ families, the American people, and everyone else impacted by this tragic tragedy. I applaud the bravery of emergency crews and first responders for their unselfish work under trying circumstances.
