Mudiaga Ogboru After the Niger Delta Congress (NDC) planned a protest against President Bola Tinubu’s imposition of a state of emergency in Rivers State, Mr. Mudiaga Ogboru, the group’s president, was reportedly arrested by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
According to information obtained, the NDC President was taken into custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Rivers State after being detained on Tuesday in Port Harcourt. The police first invited NDC spokesperson Mudiaga Ogboru because he criticized the emergency rule and encouraged the people of the Niger Delta to demonstrate or use other peaceful methods to voice their disapproval, according to people with knowledge of the situation who spoke.
However, the police arrested the NDC President, who has been detained since the day before, rather than waiting for Ogboru to arrive. The events were confirmed by an anonymous source, who said: “The police invited Mudiaga Ogboru, the spokesperson for the Niger Delta Congress, to criticize the emergency rule in Rivers and to encourage Niger Delta residents to express their disapproval through protest or other means.” However, the NDC President was arrested by the police rather than waiting for him.
The arrest was verified by Mudiaga Ogboru, the spokesperson for the NDC. He disclosed that he had gotten two separate invites regarding the planned protest, one from the Rivers State Police Command and one from the Lagos State Police Command. “The Lagos Police Command and the Rivers State Police Command actually sent me two invites. It concerns our intended demonstration against Rivers’ emergency decree. They arrested our president in Rivers, who resides in Port Harcourt, since they were unable to apprehend me,” Ogboru stated.
According to a copy of the invitation letter that was able to secure, “Sir/Madam APPEARANCE AT THE POLICE STATION: Regarding a case that was reported on March 23, 2025, you are cordially asked to meet with the Officer in Charge SID at the aforementioned Police Station/Post. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated as this is merely a fact-finding invitation; upon arrival, please report to the O/C SID of the SID OFFICE, Ikeja LAG. “I hope to see you by 11:00 am on March 25, 2025, at the latest.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
