In response to the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) suspected financing of terrorism in Nigeria, the Nigerian Senate called for Security Intelligence Chiefs on Wednesday to look into and confirm the accuracy of the claim made by US parliamentarian Perry Scott.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
The resolution came after Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, who represents the Borno South Senatorial District, issued Order 41, an Order of Urgent National Security. Ndume stressed that the investigation would end speculation about how the non-state actors have been surviving over the years, and he urged the Senate to consider the revelation as too serious to ignore given the destruction that terrorists, especially Boko Haram fighters, have caused to the nation.
The National Intelligence Agency (NIA), the Directorate of Intelligence Agency (DIA), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the National Security Adviser (NIA) are the leaders of the security intelligence agencies that the Senate has called upon. In supporting the resolution, Senate President Godswill stated that security-related matters should not be discussed in public, adding that the head of security intelligence will provide the Senate with a more comprehensive viewpoint during a private meeting.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
