During a Senate plenary session on Thursday, the committee’s head, Senator Neda Imasuen, presented the panel’s findings and made the announcement. “Senator Natasha was found guilty of all the charges against her, mainly because she did not come before the committee to have her behavior reviewed,” he said.
Lawmakers are currently discussing the committee’s report in the Senate, with differing views on whether the suspension should be changed or enforced. Some senators back the panel’s recommendation, claiming that the legislative body has to remain disciplined. Others think that in order to guarantee process fairness, the matter should be reexamined. The case of Senator Natasha comes after she and Senate President Godswill Akpabio got into a furious argument about the chamber’s seating arrangements.
