Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri issued a strong warning against a planned political meeting associated with Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike in a video that Channels Television published. Speaking at the 37th State Security Council meeting, Governor Diri warned that the social media-promoted gathering might disturb the state’s tranquility.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

The governor pointed fingers at George Turnah, a politician from Bayelsa, who is said to be organizing the event at Tombia Roundabout. Diri emphasized that Bayelsa is not the FCT and insisted that Wike, who is not from the state, should not be hosted there for such a gathering.

He instructed all security agencies to be on high alert and ensure that the meeting did not take place in Bayelsa. According to the governor, no state-owned facility should be made available for the event unless approved by the government.

Governor Diri made it clear that Bayelsa’s peace must not be threatened by political activities. He warned against bringing insecurity into the state and stressed that no public space, school, or government infrastructure should be used without official permission.

“This meeting must not take place in Bayelsa. George Turnah can host Wike anywhere outside Bayelsa, but not here,” Diri stated firmly.
