Fayose said his determination to run for office stems from his wish to steer Ekiti State in the direction of progress and development in a statement provided to reporters by his media office in Ado Ekiti. According to the statement, Otunba Fayose stated, “I am running to overthrow the Oyebanji-led government, and if I succeed, I will eventually run an inclusive government that would steer Ekiti in the right direction.” The recent meeting between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Mr. Ayodele Fayose, a former governor of the state, in Lagos, Otunba Fayose claims, need further emphasis and clarification over his willingness to run.
The former governor, who also happens to be Otunba Fayose’s older brother, informed President Tinubu during the widely reported meeting that he would back the incumbent’s return, a move that was viewed as anti-party by party members in Ekiti State. “I read about the meeting in the newspapers like any other person, and I wish to state that the meeting has nothing to do with my aspiration,” Otunba Fayose remarked in response to the news.
“The meeting won’t affect my goal because my older brother, the former governor, is merely expressing his democratic right to free will. Since we are two distinct organizations with different objectives, his preferences and choice will not and cannot have a negative effect on my bid. Otunba Fayose urged his followers in the state to continue being firm and determined in their pursuit of constructive change.
