On Friday, January 24, the cabinet issued a new directive, which prompted this decision. The government declared that all African countries except Somalia and Libya will no longer require Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) due to security concerns, according to the BBC.
Under this updated structure, nationals of most African countries will be permitted entry into the country for a maximum of two months without a visa. In accordance with community regulations, residents of the East African Community—which consists of Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi, and Uganda—will also be allowed to remain for a maximum of six months.
The exact date of this policy’s implementation has not yet been determined, but Kenya intends to implement an upgraded system that will grant instant travel authorization with a 72-hour processing window. The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that all visa applications will be moved to an online platform by March 1 at the latest.
Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo gave this information during his Monday appearance on “X Spaces,” which was hosted by influencer Dr. Segun Awosanya. In order to ensure uniformity, combat corruption, improve national security, and speed up the visa application process, the government has also established a centralized visa approval center, according to Tunji-Ojo.
The establishment of a consolidated visa approval office has also been successful for this government. “This will ensure consistency in the visa system, curb corruption, and ensure national security.”To guarantee appropriate vetting, all visa application processes will be online prior to March 1st,” he stated. At the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) headquarters in Sauka, Abuja, which is located in the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex (BATTIC), the Minister also underlined the establishment of a standardized data center.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
