Trump added that Episcopal Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde owes “the public” an apology after launching the attack, which he often saves for women he criticizes. Trump said on his Truth Social platform, “The so-called Bishop who spoke at the National Prayer Service on Tuesday morning was a radical left hard-line Trump hater.” In a rather ungracious manner, she introduced her church into the political arena. After attending a ceremony led by Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington at the Washington National Cathedral, Trump remarked, “She was nasty in tone, and not compelling or smart.”
Trump’s outburst came after his supporters earlier in the day harshly criticized the bishop. After taking the oath of office for the second time, Trump issued directives on Monday to stop migrants from entering the nation illegally and to stop asylum applicants from arriving.
Additionally, he ruled that transgender people will not be recognized; only the male and female sexes will. “I ask you to have mercy, Mr. President,” Budde said to an unimpressed Trump, who was sitting next to his wife Melania in the front pew of the church for the traditional inaugural service.
“There are gay, lesbian, and transgender children in Democratic, Republican, and independent families — some who fear for their lives,” the cleric stated during the ceremony, speaking to Trump.
“I pray, Mr. President, that you show compassion and welcome here to those who are fleeing war zones and persecution in their own countries, and that you have mercy on those in our communities whose children fear their parents will be taken away,” she continued. Trump did not react angrily to Budde’s remark right away. He only watched the service with discomfiture.
When asked about her comments, Trump previously stated, “I didn’t think it was a good service.” However, the president attacked Budde in his Truth Social post without mentioning her by name and blasted “illegal migrants.” “Aside from her inappropriate remarks, the service was a very boring and uninspiring one,” the president said. She does not do her job well! She should apologize to the public on behalf of her church.
In a Newsmax interview on Tuesday, Alabama Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville also denounced Butte’s remarks. It simply astounds me how far these people will go, Tuberville said, “for this bishop to do this to President Trump after a weekend of, as you said, talking about God more than ever, talking about how he was spared to give an opportunity maybe to change this country back to something that it should be.” Inexplicably, Republican Representative Mike Collins of Georgia demanded that Budde be deported, saying, “The person giving this sermon should be added to the deportation list.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
