She alleged that he was pressured to sign a document containing financial discrepancies before stepping down from his role.
Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, Florence Nwaeke revealed that her husband discovered an undeclared sum of ₦15 billion in an official document he was asked to endorse.
According to her, the document suggested financial irregularities linked to Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration. When confronted with the situation, George Nwaeke reportedly refused to comply, opting to resign rather than sign a document he could not verify.
The controversy has intensified as the former HoS’ sudden disappearance raised fears of possible intimidation or coercion.
His wife stated that after resigning, he traveled to Abuja at the invitation of a friend. However, since his arrival in the capital, he has not been reachable, and his phone lines have remained inactive.
The situation escalated when reports emerged that he had granted an interview, but his wife insisted that the statements attributed to him did not align with his previous stance.
She said: “When I came back and asked him, he started telling me that they brought a document. But in that document, they found another 15 billion naira that the governor (Fubara) did not declare. He told them he didn’t know anything about it. He said what he handed over to them was what the governor handed over to him. And when they pressured him, he said no. Instead of all this, let him leave them. He then wrote his resignation, saying he was not working again. He said he cannot come and say what is not true. ‘Where is the 15 billion naira coming from?’ He would not answer. Instead, he decided to leave. That was how he resigned.”.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
