The cousin of Tukur Sharme, another bandit leader slain in a similar fratricidal conflict in September 2024, Dogo Isah was known for frightening the people of Kachia and portions of Kajuru Local Government Areas (LGAs), Makama said. In the gunfight with Kachalla Musa’s group, Dogo Isah and two of his gang members were slain in the altercation that ended in his death. After the raid swiftly turned into a bloody gunfight, Dogo Isah and two of his men were killed. The conflict was confirmed by security expert Zagazola Makama, who stated that Isah’s group tried to take livestock from the peaceful camp, which sparked the gunfight.
“Dogo Isah was offered the initiative, which incentivizes ex-bandits to surrender and end hostilities, but he turned it down and carried on with his illegal activities, such as rustling cattle and violent attacks.”After a meeting with stakeholders in Tsohon Gaya village in Chikun LGA, Kachalla Musa and his group recently accepted the peace plan provided by the government and security services in Kaduna State.
Dogo Isah’s organization more recently ambushed Nigerian Navy forces at a checkpoint in Kujama on January 5, 2025, killing two Navy personnel and stealing their AK-47 weapons. Dogo Isah’s gang has been involved in a number of high-profile attacks in the area, such as the 2022 killings of an officer from the now-defunct Sect 4 OPWP near Gadan Mallam village on the Abuja-Kaduna route and soldiers of the 305 Artillery Demo Regiment in Makaranta Forest, Kagarko LGA.
With a history of attacking security personnel, rustling cattle, and engaging in other criminal activities in the Kachia and Kajuru districts, Dogo Isah had been a serious security threat in the area. The region’s volatility had only increased as a result of his steadfast opposition to peace initiatives.
