Four suspects, including Ifitedunu resident Chinenye Ekwenugo, 21, were taken into custody by Anambra State Police officers stationed at the Abagana Divisional Police Headquarters on Sunday in connection with the burning of a 74-year-old woman in a wheelchair in Abagana.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
The other three suspects are male Abagana residents Uzochukwu Okeke, 47; Fidel Anayo, 60; and Ikenna Anene, 54. The wheelchair, a casket, and the burned remains of the dead were also recovered by the agents.
“During interrogations, the suspect, Chinenye, confessed that her boyfriend, one Ifeanyi Igwe, who is currently at large, and three others set the victim ablaze and got a casket to bury her before the intervention of the security operatives,” said a statement from the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.
According to Ikenga, the body has been placed in the mortuary for autopsy and more investigation into the cause of death. In the meantime, the case was immediately transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department of the command’s Homicide Section for a thorough investigation by Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, who had asked for calm.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
