The monarch who was put in place by the Timi of Ede a few months ago was severely beaten by the enraged youngsters. They asserted that the monarch had no authority to choose a community’s top imam. According to reports, the monarch had appointed Ahmad Tijjani as the Chief Imam of the Hallelujah community last week. However, while he was assembling a group of people at his palace to attend the Jumat prayer, some young people from Ido-Osun allegedly broke in and interrupted the ceremony.
While yelling at the monarch, several of the irate young people questioned his right to establish and lead jumat prayer in a territory that belonged to another monarch. Before security personnel could step in, the crowd severely battered the king and damaged the palace.
According to a security source who requested anonymity, the monarch had to be rescued from the scene by security personnel. As a result of the escalating situation, Ajenifuja of Hallelujah was physically attacked and suffered severe injuries, and the palace was vandalized. According to the source, he has subsequently been brought to the State CID for additional safety and investigation.
The monarch has been transported to the Osun State University Teaching Hospital in Osogbo for medical attention, according to a different community source. Hon.
