Speaking in an interview, Governor Diri emphasized that his administration respects democratic freedoms. “I can’t stop any rallies in Bayelsa,” he said. However, he also issued a stern warning to traditional leaders who may hinder development in the state.

“Any chief that is a cog in the wheel of progress will be removed as a chief,” Diri declared. He stressed the need for self-sufficiency, stating, “We are tired of having everything that we eat from outside.”
