This was revealed by Dr. Abdullahi Idris, the initiative’s director general, at a high-level gathering in Kaduna that was intended to mobilize support among the northern states. Idris told reporters during the conference that the North has lagged behind in all measures of development and emphasized the region’s urgent problems, including as poverty, insecurity, and underdevelopment.
“We are the global center of poverty. Multifaceted poverty, out-of-school children, declining infrastructure, and insecurity are all problems in our region. It’s difficult to move from one state to another without getting scared. Whole communities have been wiped out, and kidnappings and murders have become routine. However, there isn’t a powerful voice speaking up for us,” he stated.
Regarding enabling young people to take on leadership roles, he observed that young people in the North were in a “sorry state.” The movement seeks to equip young people for leadership positions while giving them the direction, abilities, and chances to effect change.
Well-intentioned people who believed it was time to give back to the public, such as Hajiya Najaatu Muhammad and former Sokoto state governor Attahiru Bafarawa, started this initiative. Our goals are to bring the North together, empower our young people, and address the issues facing our area. Regarding political affiliations, the NSYEI made it clear that it was not affiliated with any party and had no plans to become one.
“As a movement, we are not political, but our members are free to join whatever political party they choose. The average Northerner is our strength, and we want to rally support from the bottom up. “We want to mobilize 50 million Nigerians who are currently enrolled and available to work for the North.” We are too big for any politician to ignore.
He urged people in the north to join the cause, emphasizing the necessity for cooperation in order to save the area. “The North has numerous issues that need immediate attention.
