Hafsat Bello, a former Kaduna State Commissioner for Human Services, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC). Bello made the statement just hours after Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor and her former boss, switched to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) from the same party on Monday, March 10. Baba stated she entered into talks with the APC as the current national woman leader of the now-defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, and she was renouncing her ties to the ruling party. She claims that it is now evident that the APC has lost its sense of purpose and direction as a result of the party mergers intended to solidify a new democratic system.
“Continued association with the party as it is currently constituted is against my personal principles as an ardent proponent and follower of these principles,” Baba continued (Aqida). She continued, “As I and others of a similar mindset believe it is appropriate and as may keep us on our founding – and still extant – principles of justice and political order, further actions and political decisions will follow.” Baba didn’t specify which party she would be attending, but it’s clear that she would be going to SDP, where her boss, El-Rufai, had recently set up camp.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
