He was also the leader of the Southern and Middle Belt Leaders’ Forum (SMBLF) and the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF). Vanguard reports that Clark, who was hospitalized to the DIFF Medical Center in Abuja, passed away on Monday at approximately 11.45 p.m., just before his 98th birthday, which would have fallen on May 25, 2025.
Speaking to the platform, PANDEF’s National Chairman, Amb. Godknows Igali, and the elder statesman’s first child, Mrs. Rebecca Clark-Okorodudu, stated that those he was leaving behind, particularly PANDEF and SMBLF members, should not stop fighting for restructuring. As part of Clark’s final remarks, the family disclosed, “I AM a Nigerian, I love Nigeria, Nigeria is my country, I am proud to be a Nigerian.”
In his final hours, Chief Clark reportedly urged the people to not have a “giving up spirit,” promising that they would undoubtedly succeed in transforming Nigeria into a better society once more. Prior to his passing, Clark cautioned that there should be celebration everywhere and that no one should be sad when he leaves this earth. He also suggested providing food and beverages to anyone who visited his home at that time.
