With the inauguration, an ancient practice of channeling allocations through states comes to an end. The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) now has a specialized unit to manage the direct distribution of cash to the 774 local governments, in keeping with the recent development made possible by a Supreme Court ruling more than five months ago.
The Nation, which cited anonymous sources with knowledge of the situation, claims this. The publication stated that “operational details for direct fund allocations to the LGs are expected to feature prominently at the Federation Account Allocation Committee’s (FAAC) first meeting of the year, which has been scheduled for Wednesday.” In addition, it cited a source who stated, “Our committee will reconvene later this month to review its progress and finalize measures before the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF) issues authorization for the complete rollout.” The majority of the 774 LGAs will begin receiving their allocations in full starting in January 2025.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
