A comprehensive list of Nigerian universities ranked on research and value-added knowledge has been made public by the Times Higher Education (THE). While certain institutions have consistently maintained their high level of quality and managed to ensure themselves on top lists in the ranking, other universities that were on the top list the prior time were unable to make it to the first ten this time.

PunchOnline claims that the 2025 list, which gathered survey responses from more than 68,000 academics worldwide and examined more than 134 million citations from 16.5 million research publications, also represented a change in the global higher education scene. Nigeria’s Top 20 Universities

Once again, Covenant University is ranked as Nigeria’s finest university. The college, which is situated in Ota, Ogun State, has consistently upheld its standards for research, innovation, and learning and sustainability excellence. The second-best university in Nigeria is Ahmadu Bello University. It has been demonstrated that Zaria University reflects research and scholarship in the North.

According to this year’s university rating, Landmark University came in third. It is extensive research on sustainability and agricultural growth. It is situated in Kwara State’s Omu-Aran. Nigeria’s fourth-ranked university was the University of Ibadan. The renowned university has maintained its longstanding reputation for academic achievement.

Nigeria’s fifth-ranked university is the University of Lagos. One of the top five universities in Nigeria is the renowned Eko University, which is well-known for its lively atmosphere and scholarly studies. According to their list, the universities ranked sixth through twentieth include:
