The Governors Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denied rumors that its members are supporting a single presidential ticket for the 2027 election that includes former governors Peter Obi of Anambra State and Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State. El-Rufai’s accusation of arrest and intimidation is not addressed by Peter Obi. Under the direction of Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, the PDP Governors reaffirmed their commitment to backing only the party’s official presidential candidate in a statement released on Saturday by Emmanuel Agbo, the Director General of the Forum.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
Five PDP governors were reportedly backing an El-Rufai/Obi ticket, according to reports. The PDP Governors Forum, however, has vehemently denied the allegation, calling it inflammatory and untrue. The Forum reaffirmed its commitment to fortifying the party and said it will refrain from any political scheming that jeopardizes its integrity.
It underlined that in spite of the economic obstacles imposed by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), PDP governors have been actively striving to enhance state-level governance. The Forum responded to the rumors by restating its commitment to the values of accountability, social justice, equity, and electoral integrity. In order to put the PDP in a position to regain control at the federal level, it pledged to back the candidate who is officially declared the party’s nominee for president in 2027.
According to the PDP Governors Forum, “The PDP Governors’ Forum, under the leadership of Senator Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, has an obligation to publicly and strongly condemn the offensive and provocative publications and rumors that are being spread endlessly by negative forces and their agents who lack the courage to challenge their leadership shortcomings by going beyond the bounds set by their failed economic policies and programs, which have left the average Nigerian with nothing but poverty and financial hardship down to the remote locations.”
“They have proceeded with direct confrontation on the Governors in an attempt to create a one-party entrapment, dissatisfied with the results their clones have obtained in the low-willed factions they continue to finance within our party structure. Their goal is to split the opposition and thereby cripple democratic institutions and values through dubious adoptions and misinterpretations of the law, all in an effort to strangle our nation’s lifeline and impose dictatorship and one-party rule.
“The PDP Governors’ Forum is not in agreement with these individuals, nor does it have any political atmosphere to discuss or finalize the PDP’s auction through unscrupulous individuals who are purportedly conspiring behind the scenes to back a possible Nasir El-Rufai/Peter Obi presidential ticket in the 2027 election.”
It went on to say, “It is clear that these maligners and critics, who are perplexed by the actions taken by PDP governors every day to help the populace escape economic misery in spite of the intimidation by the ruling APC, are merely intimidated and are only able to disparage our outstanding efforts. We will not permit these adversaries of progress and agents of confusion to deceive the Nigerian people into making incorrect and erroneous judgments since rumors and speculations are frequent in the political sphere.
Equity, social justice, accountability, sincerity of intent, upholding an uncorrupted election process, improving people’s lives, and advancing humanity are among our guiding ideals. “It suffices for us to declare unequivocally that in 2027, PDP Governors, as disciplined leaders and stakeholders, will demonstrate this by fully backing whoever becomes the flag-bearer of our great party in the fight to wrest power away from the central non-performers.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
