The Command also recovered a sum of N10 million paid as ransom to the kidnappers.
CITYNOBS had reported that Mrs Odumosu was abducted by masked men at about 9:55 pm last Thursday.
She was about to enter her home in the Arepo area of Ogun State when the kidnappers attacked her, dragged her from her vehicle and took her to an unknown location.
Seven days after the kidnap, Mrs Odumosu, was rescued by a combined effort of the Force Headquarters technical intelligence platforms and operatives of the Ogun State Command.
Giving details about how her kidnappers were neutralized, the force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement obtained by CITYNOBS , said she was rescued at about 06:45 am on Thursday.
Adejobi disclosed that intelligence-led operation took the police to a creek in the swampy area of Ikorodu where the kidnappers were reportedly planning their next attack.
He noted that upon arrival to the den, the operatives encountered the kidnappers, who opened fire and in the ensuing confrontation, two of the gunmen were neutralized, while four others fled the scene, abandoning their operational weapons.
“With the support of the Force Headquarters technical intelligence platforms, the Ogun State police operatives engaged in extensive surveillance of the creeks surrounding Arepo, gathering crucial information to track down the assailants.
“Their efforts culminated in a raid on January 23, 2025, at around 06:45 AM. The intelligence-led operation took the police to a creek in the swampy area of Ikorodu where the kidnappers were reportedly planning their next attack.
“Upon arrival, the operatives encountered the kidnappers, who opened fire. In the ensuing confrontation, two of the gunmen were neutralized, while four others fled the scene, abandoning their operational weapons.
“The victim, Mrs Odumosu was rescued within the swampy creeks during the operation, unharmed. She is currently undergoing medical evaluation as a precautionary measure and has since been reunited with her family,” the statement said.
Items recovered includes 4 Ak-47 rifles, 3 locally made single barrel rifles, ammunition of various calibers, and N10 million cash ransom previously demanded by the kidnappers.
Meanwhile the Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, praised Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, and his officers for their valour in the successful operation
