On Wednesday, five suspected kidnappers were killed by Ogun State Police Command operations on the Lagos-Ibadan highway. According to Odutola, motorists on the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode route called the Area Commander in Sagamu last Saturday to report an armed robbery attack that had occurred close to the Ilishan Remo region of the State. According to the PPRO, a crack squad of police was sent to the location of the event right away. When they arrived, they saw that a group of unidentified gunmen had used an articulated vehicle to set up a roadblock and were randomly shooting at unarmed passengers, which caused panic.
According to her, two cars—a Honda Pilot with the license plate LAGOS EKY113GZ and a Honda Accord car with the license plate LAGOS KJA13QFA—carried three commuters into the forest: Bolaji Bilesanmi “m,” 65; Olasunkanmi Idowu “m,” 50; and Mohammed Salisu “m,” unidentified in age. She clarified that CP Lanre Ogunlowo, the State Police Commissioner, gave his troops instructions to find the thugs’ hiding place.
When the kidnappers spotted the police, they reportedly opened fire, and the police responded, killing five of them and wounding others. According to Odutola, three cell phones, a single AK-47 weapon, ten rounds of 5.6mm calibre ammunition, and ₦5.2 million—possibly the profits of criminal activity—were found at the scene. However, the police were able to rescue the three abducted victims without any injuries.
