Sources claim that the two victims were kidnapped by the gunmen when they broke into the farm over the weekend. The distance between the farm and the Akure airport is a few kilometers.
According to a family member who wished to remain anonymous, the gunmen had been in touch and demanded N100 million in ransom before the victims could be freed. Because local towns have become prime locations for criminal activity, especially kidnapping, the Akure airport axis has become a dreaded place. Oyeleye, 50, moved from abroad four years ago to establish the mechanized farm in Akure, the family source continued.
“Our men are working tirelessly to ensure the victims are rescued from the abductors, as we are tracking their location,” said Adetunji Adeleye, the state commander of Amotekun Corps, who confirmed the incident and said that operatives had been deployed to rescue the victims and capture the kidnappers. Residents in Akure North, especially those in the Oba-Ile, Osi, and Eleyewo axes, have been experiencing anxiety and worry in the wake of the most recent occurrences and the ongoing kidnappings in the region.
