Today, Wednesday, January 22, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, traveled to Niger State to offer his condolences to the families and victims of the recent gasoline tanker explosion along the Dikko-Maje Road in Suleja. Obi visited the Sarkin Dikko castle, the explosion site, and the cemetery where 80 dead were interred. He met with injured patients in the hospital to provide them with encouragement and support. Obi expressed his sadness at the disaster and demanded immediate safety measures, such as road repairs, heightened awareness among tanker operators, investments in healthcare, and initiatives to reduce poverty.
“The urgent need for governance to prioritize human lives through proactive policies is highlighted by these recurrent disasters,” Obi stated. He pledged support for the impacted families and offered his sympathies to Sarkin Dikko and the Dikko community. Because human lives are so vital, governments must put proactive measures in place to protect them. “By working together, we can make sure that tragedies like this don’t happen again.
