Reports of Adedamola Ogunbode, a 28-year-old graduate of Lagos State University, being ritually killed have been denied by the Lagos State Police Command. Hundeyin did, however, disclose that three individuals, including a prophet, had been taken into custody in relation to the crime. However, despite what was being shared on social media, the authorities did not find any evidence of the missing graduate’s disfigured body. We are looking into a missing person case rather than a murder case, and he is still gone. No one is deceased anyplace.
The change occurred after the university’s administration called for justice for the missing graduate who was thought to have been murdered by the prophet. Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile, the Center for Information and Public Relations’ Deputy Registrar and Coordinator, made this announcement in a statement on Tuesday. According to Thomas-Onashile, the security agencies’ investigations showed that the mangled body of the dead was allegedly discovered buried in the grounds of a well-known local church.
“The tragic death of Ogunbode, a recent graduate of LASU, has deeply saddened the university management,” the statement said. According to reports, a prophet in the Ojo neighborhood of Lagos State executed the deceased, affectionately known as Horlar, for ceremonial reasons. The management was informed that Ogunbode, a 28-year-old Political Science Education graduate, had not been seen since January 16.
While denouncing what she called a senseless act of violence, the Deputy Registrar urged the appropriate security forces to act quickly and thoroughly to ensure that those involved are held accountable. “The church’s prophet has been taken into custody and is helping the authorities with their inquiry. The administration of the institution sends its deepest sympathies to his friends, family, coworkers, and everyone else who knew him. The entire university community is grieving his untimely death, and we join everyone else in sharing their sorrow.
“To guarantee that those accountable receive justice and that the offenders of this heinous crime do not escape punishment, we demand prompt and comprehensive action from the pertinent security agencies. While the authorities do their investigations, we implore our university community—especially our top-tier students—to maintain their composure. She urged the students to maintain their vigilance and notify the proper authorities of any suspicious activity. “Our students’ safety and security continue to be our first priority, and we are dedicated to working closely with law enforcement agencies to make sure that our university is a safe place for everyone,” the statement continued.
