The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has been directed by President Bola Tinubu to begin a statewide education campaign to raise awareness of the threats to the environment and the perils of collecting fuel from downed tankers.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
Tinubu issued the order in response to Saturday’s petrol tanker explosion at Dikko Junction, Gurara Local Government Area, Niger State, which left over 80 people dead and numerous others injured. President Tinubu sent his deepest sympathies to the relatives of the victims, the government, and the people of Niger State in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga.
“The President has instructed security and road safety authorities to implement measures to avert similar incidents and directed the provision of comprehensive medical care to the injured,” the statement said in part. Because of their extremely explosive nature, President Tinubu strongly recommends all citizens to use caution and stay away from accident scenes, particularly those involving fuel-laden vehicles.
The National Orientation Agency has also been ordered by the President to launch a national education campaign. The serious risks and environmental hazards of collecting fuel from downed tankers will be brought to the public’s attention by this campaign.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
