Oba Munirudeen Lawal, the Timi of Ede land, has denied claims that he insulted the Timi stool by bowing down to receive Alhaji Sulu Gambari, the Emir of Ilorin. However, in a statement released on Monday by Timi of Ede’s media assistant Tijani Adekilekun, the king clarified that the purpose of Friday’s wedding ceremony for Sheik Sulaiman Faruq Onikijipa’s son was to facilitate better communication between the two monarchs.
According to Ede’s palace, Oba Lawal, who had a commanding presence, bowed to welcome Emir because Alhaji Sulu Gambari, maybe because of his advanced age or for other personal reasons, was unable to rise to greet the visitors who came to pay their respects.
Oba Lawal initially leaned in to meet Sulu Gambari, but Baba Timi had to stoop and approach him in order to have a clearer conversation because the Emir was no longer able to hear his visitor’s pleasantries. Additionally, we observe that Emir Sulu Gambari did not stand up to greet Baba Timi alone. None of the visitors who came into the inner chamber to meet him were greeted by the Emir, who remained seated.
However, we urge moderation in remarks about the issue. Any individual can share their opinions about another person within the bounds established by the law, Yoruba norms, and traditions. “No matter the status of those online self-appointed morality moderators fanning embers of hate against the current occupant of the stool, Timi Agbale Olofana’s stool cannot be subjected to any form of ridicule,” Adekilekun stated.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
