The disclosure coincides with an internal conflict inside the All Progressives Congress (APC) Kaduna chapter, despite OSUN DEFENDER’s inability to independently confirm the recording’s date and location. El-Rufai allegedly cautioned his political rivals during a recent stakeholders’ meeting in Kaduna’s Murtala Mohammed Square, citing his previous disputes with two former presidents.
He said, “I had fought with two presidents—President Goodluck Jonathan ended up in Otuoke, and President Umuru Yar’Adua ended up in his grave.” He cautioned that he was still a “dogged fighter” prepared to face any opposition, but he urged party members to set aside their disagreements for the sake of unity. El-Rufai knelt in front of party stakeholders during the meeting, expressing regret for any transgressions in the past and urging peacemaking.
“I will sincerely apologize if you tell me what I did wrong. However, I will never apologize if it continues past today,” he said. Unexpectedly attending the conference was Senator Sulaiman Hunkuyi, one of his political adversaries. Speaking to El-Rufai, he emphasized his appreciation for the former governor while acknowledging their political differences. “My respect for you and politics are two different things.
