He remarked, “Like I said recently, the distinction between who we are and what we are is fundamental. Who you are relates to your values, what you can control. You may be a northerner, a southerner, rich, or poor. You might be a president, an emir, or a lawyer, but it all comes down to your character and what you do with your position.”

Further elaborating on the essence of leadership and governance, Sanusi illustrated his point with a comparison: “You can have two lawyers; one is honest with integrity, the other is a thief.
