After a lodger, Sunday Ogofotha, was discovered dead at the Century Hotel, Godwin Ogorugba, the Council Chairman of Isoko North, confirmed the arrest of a hotel owner, his wife, and a security guard, according to a Vanguard article. The individuals were connected to ritual killings and kidnappings, according to investigations. A POS machine and other assets that belonged to a POS operator who was slain the year before were found by police. “This place is a slaughterhouse,” a resident stated. “People check in and never leave.” According to community members, the hotel’s front appeared normal, but the back opened into an unfenced bush and stream, where gruesome activities allegedly took place. The security guard’s wife confessed that her husband killed the POS operator and buried her behind the hotel.
Ogofotha’s disappearance raised alarms when he failed to attend the funeral he had traveled from Lagos for. His family traced him to Century Hotel, where staff denied his stay. Suspicious, they demanded to check the rooms. “The owner tried to stop us from opening one, claiming the guest inside was busy,” a relative said. “We forced the door open—he was tied up, beaten, and murdered.”
