According to Martins Wachukwu, Special Assistant on Media to the Speaker, the lawmakers during their 134th Legislative Sitting on Wednesday adopted a motion sponsored by 26 members and moved by Hon. Linda Somiari-Stewart (Okrika Constituency).
The motion condemned Justice Enebeli’s alleged refusal to appear before the Assembly and comply with an arrest warrant.
The House called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to probe RSIEC’s financial activities.
The Commission’s bankers were also asked to submit statements from January 1, 2024, to date.
Speaker Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule emphasized the Assembly’s constitutional powers under Section 128 to investigate public institutions. The motion was unanimously adopted.
This development comes amid heightened political tension between Governor Fubara and the pro-Wike faction of the Assembly. .
