The horrific petrol tanker explosion in Dikko in Niger State on Saturday has claimed 86 lives and injured 55 more. The bodies of the deceased were collected from the location, according to a statement released this morning by Alhaji Abdullahi Baba Arah, the Director General of NSEMA. He further mentioned that five victims were carried away for burial by their relatives, while 80 victims had a mass burial, which was organized by the Gurara Local Government Area, the agency, and volunteers.
When a second tanker was brought in to move gasoline from the wrecked truck, the explosion happened. E Youths and women hurried to the scene to gather gasoline, according to witnesses, and the explosion that followed caused a huge inferno that consumed the victims, the vehicles, and the surrounding region. Significant property losses resulted from the destruction of numerous homes and businesses.
Mohammed Umaru Bago, the governor of Niger State, visited the scene of the tragedy and described it as “shocking, unfortunate, and worrisome.” He replied by giving medical staff from Minna General Hospital instructions to help treat the injured at Suleja General Hospital and New Wuse General Hospital.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
