Suspect: I regret what I did, I was looking for money; I told bandits not to kill Rev Fr. Okechukwu

 

In Tachira, Kaura Local Government Area, Kaduna State, Douglas Henry, who lived in the same home as Reverend Father Sylvester Okechukwu, has acknowledged planning the kidnapping that resulted in the priest’s death. In a video shared by Daily Trust TV, Henry confessed that his actions were motivated by the need for money. However, he said that he never intended for the priest to be killed. He claimed he only wanted the kidnappers to demand money and was shocked when they informed him that they had killed the priest.

In Henry’s words: “Now I am regretting what I did seriously. I did it because I was looking for money. I did not ask them (the bandits) to kill Reverend Father Okechukwu. I told them I only needed money. When they told me they killed him I said why is it that they did that.
