According to The Guardian, it was reported that in a new episode of her YouTube show, Toke Moments, released on Friday, the on-air personality and businesswoman shared her experiences, emphasizing that she has chosen to accept her reality rather than dwell on what could have been.
Makinwa, who turned 40 in 2024, stated that she has no regrets about her life choices. She advised against living in the past, stressing that regret is a heavy burden that no one should carry.
She explained that regret drains a person’s energy and urged people to stop dwelling on past mistakes. According to her, what has happened cannot be changed, but learning from the experience and moving forward is what truly matters.
Makinwa also addressed the societal expectations placed on women regarding marriage and childbirth. She admitted that she once struggled with these thoughts but has since come to accept her reality.
She shared that saying out loud that she is 40, single, and childless was initially difficult, but doing so did not harm her in any way.
Reflecting on her journey, she explained that turning 30 had been exciting for her, but reaching 40 initially felt overwhelming due to the societal pressure associated with that age. However, she made it clear that she has since learned to shift her perspective and embrace her life as it is.
“I can look at my life and say, ‘Oh my God, I’m 40, I don’t have a child, I don’t have a husband, people have passed me.’ Or, I can say, ‘I am 40, I am a boss, I’ve built an empire, I am one of the most resounding voices out of Africa, I have the love of family, I am in great health, I love what I do.’ It’s all about perspective,” she said.
Makinwa also spoke about outgrowing certain relationships, emphasizing that some friendships were only meant to last for a season.
She shared that one of the biggest lessons she has learned over the years is that some friendships naturally come to an end, and that is perfectly okay. She clarified that it does not mean either party is a bad person, but simply that people grow apart.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
